We all know one of the biggest trends lately has been all about the eyebrows; gone are the days of our mothers pencil thin McDonald’s arches or hockey sticks, and here are the days of a naturally shaped clean full brow, praise the beauty gods!!! Besides helping to keep sweat from rolling into our eyes, the our eyebrows help to shape our face, so I’m sharing with you 5 tips to get better brows.
1 | The absolute most important thing to remember if you want to have the best eyebrows is you need to go to an experienced and knowledgeable brow stylist. Do not try to wax/tweeze them yourself and do not have them waxed for $8 by the lady at your nail salon – you get what you pay for, a good wax/thread will run you $15-$25.
(Remember growing in a brow for reshaping takes time and patience, and that as talented as you stylist may be, she can’t magically make hair grow where there is no hair.)
2 | Find a schedule that works for your hair growth and stick to it; most people will need a cleanup every 2-3 weeks.
3 | Do not tweeze between your appointments.(your brow stylist HATES this) As tempting as it may be, this will cause all the hairs to grow back at different times and you’ll never have a nice clean brow for more then a couple of days or ever. And if you think you’re trimming your eyebrows between appointments… think again.
4 | Fill your brows; if you are using a pencil/cream pot do tiny baby feather like strokes and use a brush to blend between layers, this will make it look natural and not like you drew your brows on with a crayon. (we all know that girl) If you are using a powder make sure you tap your brush before you start to fill and use a brush to blend between layers. With both techniques always start from the top to create a lifted look, filling from the bottom upward will create a shadow effect.
(If you do not fill your eyebrows in, start very lightly. It can look very dramatic if you are not used to it, and you will probably hate it; but just like wine, filling your brows is an acquired taste and soon you will grow to love it and not be able to live without it.)
5 | When you are done filling your brows brush them upwards and then gel them into place, you can use a brow set, some hairspray on a mascara wand, but personally myself I just use clear mascara.
