One growing trend in the beauty industry lately has been the matte lip. Many companies are now coming out with their own line of matte lipsticks and glosses, I know personally myself I already own a lot of these colours in a cream finish and the cost of having to go out and re-buy them in a matte finish quickly adds up! So today I am showing you a little trick on how you can turn any of your lipsticks into a matte lipstick with a few simple steps…

Step 1
Apply a lip balm to avoid having that super dry feeling that sometimes comes with a matte finish

Step 2
Apply your lip liner; this will give you nice defined edges and if you fill your lips in with your liner (I always do) it creates a great base for your lipstick and helps it last longer!

Step 3
Apply your lipstick. I always like to use a lip brush because it fills the natural grooves of the lips. and gives you a more control for a precise application.

Step 4
Take a disposable sponge and tear it in half (again the texture fills the natural grooves of the lips better) and dip it into an HD setting powder. Pat the sponge along the lips, creating a generous layer over the lipstick (you will look ridiculous)close up image of a ripped sponge being dipped in powderclose up image of girl pressing powder over lipstick

Step 5
Take a fluffy brush and gently dust away all the excess powder, you will be left with a beautiful matte version of your lipstick!
