Phew I almost didn’t think I was going to get my weekly post in, I’m a little late, (I usually try to post on Wednesdays) but I have had a very sick little munchkin on my hands. 104.6 degree fevers, 2 trips to the doctors, and a trip to the hospital, lots of snuggles, and me sleeping in the crib with him, he finally seems to be on the mend! Needless to say I’ve been busy and TIRED so I figured this was a great time for me to talk about under-eye concealers, as they have been my best friend this week.
Pre-kids, I never really liked under eye concealers. I found they just creased under my eyes and didn’t really do much, now I know that even though I may have thought I was tired, I was so well rested (like extremely well rested) and there really just wasn’t much for them to do! Fast forward to two kids and I will tell you, under eye concealer is a MUST have for mamas. Because I still had trouble with the creasing, I have tried a ton of different concealers to find the best ones with the right amount of pigment to make it look like I’ve slept like a baby (you know the kind of sound and peaceful sleep newborns do for a hot minute) and the right formulation to not cause creasing and make me look older then I am.
These are my top 5 favourites!
- Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – This is my current favourite and go to concealer. It is lightweight for a buildable coverage, but it is SO pigmented that you honestly wont need much. The formula also contains light reflectors which give off an instant brightening effect, like a double shot of espresso for your under eye! I have never had an issue with creasing with this product, and it lasts all day which is great because I don’t have time for touchups! It comes in 22 different shades so there is definitely something for everyone! I use “Vanilla” and I am extremely fair and apply it with the applicator and blend it out with a small damp sponge.
2.Revlon Photo Ready Concealer – This one is for my budget mamas, it might be a drugstore brand product but do NOT underestimate its ability to make it look like you have got a good nights sleep! It has a super creamy formulation so it goes on like butter and melts right into the skin which allows you to build up your coverage, I would recommend you set this one with a powder if you use a lot though as because it is so creamy it does settle into fine lines as the day goes on. This one only comes in 6 different shades which is kind of disappointing as it will not work for everyone. I use “Light” and although it comes in a tube, I apply it with a brush and blend it out with my finger.
3. Bobbi Brown Under Eye Corrector – This one was my previous fav, and I will probably have a beauty affair with it again in the future! It is an amazing 3 in 1 product. Part primer, part colour corrector, part concealer. This little guy does it ALL, it will smooth your fine lines, will correct your dark circles using either a pink or peach undertone depending on your shade, and it conceals. And it does all this while being smooth, easy to blend, and long lasting without creasing. There are 21 different shades and 3 different undertones, so there is a good match for almost everyone! I use “light bisque” and apply with a concealer brush and blend out with my finger.
4. Two Faced Born this Way Naturally Radiant Concealer – One of the first really good concealers I found. I loved that is was infused with skin care ingredients which help to hydrated and plump the skin (Coconut Water, and Hyaluronic Acid) to help prevent creasing and fine lines forming around the eyes. It also gives AMAZING coverage. It comes in 16 different shades, and 3 different undertones for a flawless match. I use “Light” and apply it with the applicator and blend it out with my finger
5. Smashbox Studio Skin 24-Hour Waterproof Concealer – The Big Guns. I reserve this for those nights I get stuck playing musical beds, slept in the crib, or get continually woken up for things like “I need my pillow flipped over” This stuff is SO pigmented and gives such good coverage, I swear you could colour under your eyes with a black sharpie and it would take care of it! Its a little to heavy for everyday wear for me, but necessary enough that I keep a tube on hand at all times. It is a little drier so definitely moisturize and/or prime before applying. It comes in 10 different shades. I wear “Fair Light” and apply it with the applicator and blend it out with a damp sponge.
Have you tried any other amazing under-eye concealers? Let me know in the comments as I am always looking for my next new favourite product! Also incase you wanted to give any of these I try, I have included affilate links!
